Self-presentation in the workplace
During the one-day training, participants will learn the principles of building authority, managing stage fright and stress, and selecting the appropriate type of presentation for a specific objective. In addition to the informational component, participants will practice techniques for handling stage fright and delivering a self-presentation.
Module 1
The first module will focus on effectively starting a presentation. We will concentrate largely on the impact we want to make on the audience during the first contact. Participants will learn ways to build speaker authority, and to foster likability and trust among the audience. At the end of the module, each participant will prepare their own ‘elevator pitch’ – a brief introduction of themselves, their company, or a product, for example, in the context of a management visit to the facility.
The second part of this module will focus on managing stage fright and stress during presentations. Participants will learn about the causes of stress. Through improvisational exercises, they will gain a new perspective on stage fright and fear of evaluation. The final element of the module will be familiarization with and practice of simple, practical methods to reduce stress before and during a presentation.
Topics
- Building speaker authority: speaker image, first impression, how to present yourself engagingly, and Elevator Pitch
- Techniques for managing stress during presentations
- Mental and physical techniques for coping with stage fright and stress
- Self-presentation during GEMBA – group problem-solving
Module 2
In the next module, we will address the question of the goal we want to achieve with our presentation, the emotions we aim to evoke, and what the audience should do once we finish. Participants will learn the seven best presentation structures and understand which one to choose based on the intended outcome. They will learn how to tailor their narrative to the audience, topic, and presentation length.
Participants will receive practical tips for conducting professional meetings at a whiteboard and on the shop floor. The trainer will share advice on what to do before the presentation, how to build confidence, capture attention at the very beginning, and manage it throughout.
Participants will take part in practical exercises conducted in their workplace, practicing self-presentation in real situations.
Participants will develop guidelines for effectively conducting meetings, both in-person and via tele- and videoconferencing.

- Audience analysis – who I will be speaking to and how to tailor the message
